Capitalize on E-Learning Programs and Online Courses

In this digitally advanced age, everything has evolved. Now ordering food is just a click away, entertainment modes have become immensely diverse, and even education has shifted to online mediums. So, why not avail the opportunity and get started with any of the e-learning programs offered by numerous well-known schools, universities and colleges.

Learning online is more convenient than the conventional college-going experience. The world is now a global village with no boundaries, and any prospective learner from any educational background can enroll in their desired e-learning courses. These online programs are well developed as per modern market needs, ranging from basics to advanced levels. Therefore, take advantage of the opportunity and build your skills by learning from famous institutions like The University of Michigan, Udemy, Coursera, MIT, and many more that too free of cost!

For accounting, the options are simple with courses like the following to consider:

Choose a Suitable Learning Method

Several learning options like online learning, YouTube videos, e-learning diploma programs, and onsite learning are available. But, every prospect has its pros and cons. One must pick the most suitable medium as per our requirements. So, before selecting any accounting learning programs, one needs to consider the following factors:

  • When it comes to learning supplementary skills like accounting, computer basics, language, or any soft skills, budget is one of the significant factors that impact the preferences of aspiring students. E-learning programs are very cheap, and most of the time, fundamental courses are less costly. So, select your desired lessons as per your learning requirements and budget.
  • Analyze and decide beforehand the key gains that you desire from your accounting course and keep track of your learning and professional outcomes even during as well as after the completion of your online course
  • Management is the most substantial aspect of after-college learning or supplementary education. So, organize your calendar accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
  • Knowing your optimal learning style and habits is also crucial. Some people are good kinesthetic learners, while some are auditory or visual learners. So, select courses as per your learning styles to connect with like-minded peers. This approach will amplify your learning capacity manifold!

Follow the learning method compatible with your coveted outcomes, budget, learning style, and schedule.

Devote Time to Learning

Irrespective of the learning methodology you choose, devote ample time to it. Accounting concepts construct gradually, so investing enough time in deep learning each topic is crucial to building a conceptual foundation.  Avoid rushing while learning basics as a strong foundation needs clear concepts. Keep practicing accounting problems daily as that will enable you to progress toward your desired educational goal.

Concentrate on Real-World Application

Keep in mind that learning accounting equations and principles does not require memorization. Accounting is the game of practice, so always apply your understanding to real-world problems. For instance, online accounting courses incorporate a case-based teaching methodology that provides the students with an opportunity to take on real business problems and real-world challenges.

Furthermore, attempt to recreate scenarios that you might have experienced during the course of your career. Applying concepts and equations to subjective experiences can help learners connect with real-world problems and practical solutions. It is also significant to understand accounting is not something one can understand overnight; it needs time and repeated practice.

Do Network with Accounting Professionals

When we connect with the peers and professionals from our relevant field, it gives us more analytical and practical insights about the subject. Such communities not only help hone our accounting skills but also provide motivation and support. These accounting networks are supportive platforms for newbies as they have also experienced similar challenges in the past and are open to helping others through their accounting journey. Along with professional growth, accounting networks also develop a community spirit and sense of belonging amongst online learners.

Wrapping Up

Whenever we learn a new skill, the most notable aspect is to take control of that learning. Before taking on something that is not quite compatible with our educational background, degree, and experiences, we need to put aside the inevitable fear and be prepared to move outside our comfort zone.

Learning the fundamentals of accounting will not only help you diversify your skillset, boost your confidence and performance in organizations but will also assist you in making more intelligent decisions. Therefore, whether you want to supervise your finances or are interested in pursuing a book-keeping or an accountant job in your dream organization, learning and practicing the basics of accounting can help get you started.

Now, consider the perfect solution for you to excel in your accounting career and get paid what you are worth.

Making a Career Comeback

5 Tips on Wowing Prospective Employers

Whether you’ve been raising a family, earning a degree, or were the victim of  layoffs, planning a career comeback can be daunting.  You may worry that your time away has hindered your chances for finding solid employment.  It doesn’t have to!

As you prepare to get your career on track, consider these 5 tips on wowing prospective employers.

1. Determine what you want. Don’t plow forward until you have decided the direction you want your career to go.  When you haphazardly push your career forward, you wind up with a haphazard career.  While the responsibility of earning a living may loom large, it doesn’t have to prevent you from getting on a desirable career path.  Sit back and determine where you’d most like to be in your career before you start the job hunt.

2. Develop new skills. Some people are concerned that this step will take too much time from their efforts in finding a new job.  While you may have to find a transitional job to pay the bills while you receive necessary training, you don’t have to spend years earning professional certification.  In some cases, one or two college classes will be enough to revamp your skills, while in other cases a reputable bookkeeping program may be what you need.

3. Revamp your resume. Once you know where you are going and are confident that you possess the skills necessary, it’s time to revamp your resume.  Highlight your strengths while considering the employers who will review it.  What are they most interested in, and have you made it easy for them to find it on your resume?

4. Build your network. The best way to find work opportunities is through networking.  If you’ve been out of the loop for awhile, chances are you will need to rebuild your network.  Consider family, friends, businesses you frequent, and other contacts who could expose you to potential jobs.  Spread the word, and you’ll soon discover just how valuable a professional network can be.

5. Be flexible. Sometimes we become too narrow-minded when looking for a job.  Is it absolutely necessary for you to find full-time employment?  Would your career benefit more from a part-time position?  Or, perhaps, you could consider freelance work for awhile?  Approaching your career with an open mind may enable you to discover possibilities you wouldn’t have seen otherwise.

Consider Self-Employment

As you ponder your options for reentering the job market, you may also want to consider the possibility of self-employment.  Is it time to launch your own business in order to enjoy greater flexibility and higher earnings?

The Universal Practice Builder program is designed to train you how to promote your practice in order to experience significant growth and profitability.

Changing Jobs in the Accounting Field

successful business womanIt’s happened to the best of us.  We launch our careers and then decide that we’re unsatisfied performing the tasks in our current occupations.  Perhaps you began your accounting career with the idea that you would move up or switch to a job more compatible with your interests and goals.

Whether you’ve been in your current job for ages and need a change, or if you’re just interested in the opportunities available, accounting is a wide field that offers many options.  From controller to tax manager, from senior accountant to senior analyst, from credit manager to bookkeeper, the job possibilities are endless, so there’s no reason to feel gridlocked in your accounting career.  But as you consider a change, remember the following Do’s and Don’ts:

1.   Don’t worry if the thought of changing careers makes you nervous.  Change of any kind, especially in a career, makes most people nervous.  It’s perfectly normal and shouldn’t scare you away from accomplishing what you desire.  Taking it slow and creating a plan will help ward off any fear you might be experiencing.

2.   Don’t get discouraged.  It may take awhile to 1) discover what you really want, and 2) find that perfect job for you.  Recognize that changing jobs will require time and patience.

3.   Don’t rule out staffing agencies.  Sometimes you have to date a few employers and jobs before you commit to just one.  There are staffing agencies that specialize in accounting and by taking a few months to test drive employers and occupations you’ll get a good idea of which might be best for you while simultaneously getting your foot in the door.

4. Do take the time to research and consider all the possibilities.  Take the time to consider your interests, your objectives, and your ultimate career goals.  Do the research necessary to determine which job and employer will be right for you.  While you’re at it, find a mentor in the same position who could give you valuable tips.

5.   Do remember your transferable skills and networking contacts.  Because you’re moving from one accounting job to another, recognize that your transferable skills are extremely valuable.  Update your resume so that it targets your desired occupation while highlighting those transferable skills.  Also refer to your contact list to 1) aid in helping you determine which occupation is for you, 2) discover job opportunities you may not have heard about otherwise and 3) win an advantage on a job you’re interested in.

6.   Do get training that will help you advance. Often you’ll have a better shot at getting a job if you’ve had advanced training.  For example, enrolling in UAC’s Professional Bookkeeper Program could give you the advantage in finding just the job you want.  It will bolster your resume and give you a talking point in those crucial interviews.

Whichever occupation you choose in the accounting field, the important thing is that you find the right one for you.  In following this list of Do’s and Don’ts you will have a better chance of doing just that.
