I am a university/college graduate. How can Universal help me?

Universal founder Alf Bostrom began by training degreed accountants. During his 35 years of accounting for businesses, Bostrom noticed a deficiency in the training for small business owners through university and college programs. Universities orient instruction toward the needs of large corporations, ignoring the daily tasks critical to a small business owner. Universal gives accountants the tools to specifically help small businesses.

Are there prerequisites required to attend your school?

To be admitted to one of Universals’ programs, the applicant must have a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and beyond the age of compulsory high school attendance, as prescribed by Utah law (see Rule 152-34-4(3) of the Utah Administrative Code).

To register for one of Universal’s income tax preparation courses, the student must have completed the Professional Bookkeeper™ program, or obtain a favorable review through interviewing with a Universal instructor or administrator.

How long do your programs last?

Universal’s Professional Bookkeeper™ and Professional Tax Preparer™ designations are four-week-long programs.

Other Universal courses vary in length. Please call the registrar’s office for specific information.

What tuition options are available?

Tuition and registration fees may be paid at any time up to the second day of class. No prepayments will be accepted earlier than 6 months prior to the first day of class.

Those wishing to pay the full tuition amount by the second day of class will receive a 10 percent discount on their tuition.

Universal also offers simple, 12-month financing programs to those who qualify. For more information on financing qualifications and arrangements, please contact Universal’s Registrars office at 800-343-4827.

Are books included in my tuition?

Upon registration, students are provided with workbooks and other classroom materials necessary to complete the course. The appropriate distance-learning instructional videos will be provided as well.

Does Universal Accounting® provide employment assistance?

Graduates receiving the Professional Bookkeeper™ designation will be assigned a Personal Achievement Coach to assist them in their career pursuit. Universal’s job placement assistance program consists of resume preparation, resume placement strategies and successful interviewing techniques.

Companies in the community often contact Universal for potential job candidates. While we may provide job attainment information; we cannot make guarantees for employment.

How do you formally recognize competence in the bookkeeping/tax preparation field?

Graduates of a Universal Accounting® program will be provided with a Graduation Certificate for each completed field of study. Universal will also provide a Letter of Recommendation regarding the skills you have learned.

Universal’s Professional Bookkeeper™ Professional Tax Preparer™ and QuickBooks Specialist™ designations are recognized by employers worldwide as the gold standard in small business training.
