When I first decided to become a bookkeeper it was a decision I made after two years of effort trying different career choices (massage therapy school, bartending academy, cardiac monitor technician courses). Then bookkeeping came to mind. I enjoy working with numbers and being at the computer. When I saw Universal Accounting’s advertisement on a web site and watched the video sent to me, I knew I wanted to have a home based business as a freelance bookkeeper. Although I am having difficulty right now grasping the concepts of accounting, I value UAC’s program because of the training and practice of setting up a business. Books from beginning to end (something the college courses will not teach me) and the valuable insight in marketing my own bookkeeping business (I peeked at module 4 of the Professional Bookkeeper Program). I just landed a job with a Jeep Tour company as a guide for a mom and pop business here in Scottsdale for a little added income while I attend school. I already have my first client when I receive my certificate! The owner of the jeep tour company is disappointed with her accountant and said she would hire me on when I graduate next year. She knows quite a few small business owners. I would have never thought about freelancing if I hadn’t come across UAC. I feel so on track with where my life is heading. Thanks!
