Specialization
Business owners prefer to do business with people who understand their particular type of business so if the student has experience with a specific industry, it is in their interest to specialize in that industry.
When an accounting service can specialize it offer and identify and unique industry to align with they should join a trade organization that is specific to the industry they are specializing in. When joining it should be the goal to participate and become involved and the local level.
They should also subscribe to any trade publications that are specific to that industry. Stay current with trends and areas of interest and influence to that industry. They more aware they are of their concerns and frustrations as well as recent trends the more they will be able to market to and retain their clients.
It would also be a good idea that if the student is going to specialize in a specific industry, to use the specialty in their business name.
