Module 1 – Establishing the Tax Foundation acts as an introduction to the topic of Professional Tax Preparation. From what your role is as a Tax Preparer to the nuts and bolts of preparing the most common Tax Returns. Learning this material first not only gives you a solid foundation in your understanding of the process of preparing tax returns, but is also very helpful in that once you have a solid understanding of this material, you can begin to prepare individual tax returns.
Module 2 – Becoming the 1040 Expert deals with the background information and forms that go into Form 1040, Page 2. We also discuss all the adjustments that can be made to adjusted gross income, including credits that are allowed and different types of deductions and exemptions that can be taken against that adjusted gross income number.
In Module 3 – Profitable Business Returns introduces you to the world of business organizations and their tax concerns. This module is a practical companion to Module 2, as it gives you experience in completing each of the schedules and forms common to business organizations.
Module 4 – Building a Successful Tax Practice has been developed to give you a head start in creating and running your own tax preparation service. You will learn from the experts. TAX PREPARERS GONE BAD
This 2 Credit Hour Course focuses on specific cases of Tax Preparers Gone “Bad”. Your instructor, Arthur Reed, MBA, CPA, MST analyzes tax fraud cases that have hit the headlines. He will then relate the violations to the IRS Circular 230 publication.
In some cases the tax preparer’s violations went on for years, and it is amazing that the frauds went on as long as they did. Not only will this course cover the specifics of the fraud cases, it will provide important ethics updates for tax preparers. Also covered is the TIGTA report, EITC ethical issues, IRS bulletin 2017-35 and an overview of penalties.

2020 TAX PRIMER
This 8 hour course will provide a thorough review of all four portions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Bill (H.R.1.) while also explaining the provisions that have changed for 2020. This course will also provide a summary description of all provisions referenced in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act for each of the primary sections and will identify which sections changed for 2018 and which were updated for 2020.
